The Akron Rams won the last time they faced the Briggsdale Falcons, and things went their way on Thursday too. Akron secured a 46-40 W over Briggsdale. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Akron.
Leading Akron to victory were Anderson Filla and Caleb Poss. Filla scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and three steals, while Poss dropped a double-double on 16 points and 21 rebounds. Poss is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games he's played.
When it comes to explaining why Briggsdale lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tanner Fiscus. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points along with eight steals. That was a full 60% of Briggsdale's points, marking the eighth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Dallas Glass, who scored five points along with seven rebounds.
Briggsdale struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
The win got Akron back to even at 4-4. As for Briggsdale, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Akron won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Wray at 4:00 p.m. on January 12th. Wray is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.2 points per game. As for Briggsdale, they will head out on the road to face off against Weldon Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
