Hawthorne is a perfect 3-0 against Westchester since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Cougars will look to defend their home field against the Comets at 5:30 p.m. Hawthorne will be strutting in after a victory while Westchester will be coming in after a defeat.
Hawthorne took a 17-run loss the last time they faced off against Beverly Hills, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cougars skirted past the Normans 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since May 5, 2025.

Hawthorne let David Moreno and Joaquin Arana run wild. Moreno went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base, while Arana went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Hawthorne is 2-0-1 when Moreno posts two or more runs, but 0-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jose Ruelas, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Westchester lost 16-5 to Marquez on Monday.
Jayden Hightower was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Richard Arredondo, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Westchester's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Hawthorne, the victory was their first on the road, bumping their record up to 2-6-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hawthorne has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Westchester struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Hawthorne was able to grind out a solid win over Westchester when the teams last played back in March of 2023, winning 4-1. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Comets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
