Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chincoteague). They blew past the Northampton Yellowjackets 18-2 on Thursday. The Ponies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by ten runs or more this season.
Caitlyn McPherson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Carmela Rosanova was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Meredith Wright, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
