After a string of 16 wins, the Northeastern Bobcats's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to York Suburban 62-57. Northeastern was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as York Suburban apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Northeastern's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Colleen Finnegan, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Nylah Davis, who scored nine points along with seven assists and six steals.
Northeastern's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-1. As for York Suburban, they pushed their record up to 16-1 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
Northeastern won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Dover at 11:30 a.m. on January 27th. Northeastern is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season. As for York Suburban, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Eastern York at 7:30 p.m. Eastern York will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 264th, while York Suburban is ranked 31st).
