The Mission Oak Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 20 points or more this season. They blew past Golden West, posting a 61-31 win at home. The victory was just what Mission Oak needed coming off of a 61-41 loss in their prior game.
Mission Oak was led to victory by Aiyana Murray and Isabella Zepeda. Murray dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Zepeda scored 22 points along with five rebounds and five steals. The game was Zepeda's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Phoenix Ryan was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with four steals.
Defeat or not, Golden West got some senior leadership from Danae Banuelos who scored 17 points along with seven blocks and five rebounds and Tie Morgan who scored nine points along with ten rebounds and three steals. Banuelos scored a full 54.8% of Golden West's points, the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Mission Oak's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Golden West, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8.
Mission Oak will head out on the road to face off against Strathmore at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Strathmore is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. As for Golden West, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Tulare Union at 6:00 p.m.
