Having struggled with five losses in a row, Dacula turned things around against Mill Creek on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hawks, sneaking past 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Falcons have posted against the Hawks since March 27, 2023.
Alex Renwick looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alejandro Padilla, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Darlin Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Mountain View beat Anthony 7-2 on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Lobos in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won four in a row.
Albert Madrid made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Esteban Garcia and Nayden Cervantes did most of the damage at the plate: Garcia got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Cervantes went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. Mountain View is 5-0-1 when Cervantes posts two or more runs, but 1-8 otherwise. Kaleb Gonzalez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Dacula's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-8. As for Mountain View, their win bumped their record up to 6-8-1.
