The Wakefield Warriors will face off against the Washington-Liberty Generals at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
Wakefield lost 12-2 to James Madison on Tuesday. The Warriors have struggled against the Warhawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Wakefield saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Bull, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Washington-Liberty waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Stallions with a sharp 12-3 victory. Considering the Generals have won three games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Alex Goodell looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, Alex Frymoyer was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sean Guffey, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Washington-Liberty kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.
Washington-Liberty's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Wakefield, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Wakefield took their win against Washington-Liberty in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Generals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
