Lincoln has won six straight games at home, while High Tech SD has won six straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Hornets will host the Storm at 4:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
While Lincoln's win against Canyon Hills wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hornets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Rattlers on Thursday.
The team relied heavily on Dominic Mendoza, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Lincoln was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of 1.000. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in nine consecutive contests.
High Tech SD came out on top against Hoover on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Storm skirted past the Cardinals 6-5. The win continues a trend for the Storm in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won six in a row.
Devon Caris looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of High Tech SD's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 5-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't).
At the plate, Landon Carroll was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. High Tech SD is undefeated when Carroll posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikey Ortiz, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Lincoln has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for High Tech SD, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.
Lincoln was able to grind out a solid victory over High Tech SD in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, winning 6-1. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Storm have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
