Softball Recap: Lincoln Northeast Has No Trouble Against Grand Island

Lincoln Northeast's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They put the hurt on the Grand Island Islanders with a sharp 15-7 win. This was payback for the Rockets, who suffered a 12-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Lincoln Northeast got a massive performance out of Taytum Buettgenbach, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. Those seven RBI gave Buettgenbach a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn VanDyke, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two RBI, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lincoln Northeast kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.2.

Lincoln Northeast's record now sits at 4-8. As for Grand Island, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincoln Northeast will challenge Lincoln East at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rockets will need to watch out since the Spartans have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups. As for Grand Island, they will take on Lincoln Southwest at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
