The Logansport Berries will head out on the road to take on the McCutcheon Mavericks at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Logansport proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by seven) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over Lafayette Central Catholic.
Kuper Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Taylor Albright and Braylon Ritchie did most of the damage at the plate: Albright went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Ritchie went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Those four hits gave Albright a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bryson Herr, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, while McCutcheon put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Hamilton Heights. The Mavericks put the hurt on the Huskies with a sharp 14-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Mavericks, who have now won seven games by eight runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Jake Winger, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs.
McCutcheon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hamilton Heights only posted an OBP of .111.
Logansport has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for McCutcheon, their record now sits at 13-7-1.
Logansport couldn't quite finish off McCutcheon in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Berries avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
