The Poly Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 44-30 bruising from Summit. While losing is never fun, Poly can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 831st, while Summit is ranked 197th).
When it comes to explaining why Poly lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nea Denton. Despite the final result, she scored 21 points. The matchup was Denton's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Reagan Metzger was another key contributor, scoring 6 points.
Poly has fallen quite a ways from their 21-8 record last season and are now at 2-8. As for Summit, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.
Poly will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Roosevelt at 5:00 p.m. on December 7th. One thing working in Roosevelt's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches. As for Summit, they will square off against Claremont at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Claremont's defense has only allowed 26.9 points per game this season, so Summit's offense will have their work cut out for Summit.
