Stanton County has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Wichita County Indians at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Stanton County scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Springfield with a sharp 59-38 win. The win was just what Stanton County needed coming off of a 52-20 loss in their prior match.
Avery Scott was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 22 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Canny, who scored four points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Wichita County put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Southwestern Heights, posting a 69-32 victory at home. Wichita County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 22 points or more this season.
Stanton County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Wichita County, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-0.
Stanton County came up short against Wichita County when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 51-45. Can Stanton County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
