Baseball Recap: Union Mine's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Union Mine came into Thursday's game having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past the Rosemont Wolverines 11-0 on Thursday. The match marked the Diamondbacks' most dominant win of the season.

Andrew Schurmann made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Cooper Mann and Brandon Crow did most of the damage at the plate: Mann went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Crow went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one triple. Those two RBI gave Mann a new career-high. Nate Gregson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Union Mine kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rosemont only managed one hit.

Union Mine's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 4-9. As for Rosemont, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-8-1 record this season.

Union Mine has already played their next game, a 7-6 win against Argonaut on the 4th. As for Rosemont, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Liberty Ranch on the 8th.
