Lauryn Chapman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, Tionna Edwards was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Flowers, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Westlake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .391 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Alexander duked it out with Lithia Springs on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitchers stepped up to hand the Lions an 18-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won seven in a row.
Erin Vineyard was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Vineyard was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last nine games.
In other batting news, Alexander got a massive performance out of Alexis May, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave May a new career-high. Madison Smith also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Westlake's record is now 10-6-1. As for Alexander, their record now sits at 22-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Westlake has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Alexander struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
