On Friday, the Harbor Pirates's game was all tied up 11-11 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They strolled past El Primero with points to spare, taking the game 38-19. Given Harbor's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 510th, while El Primero is ranked 1105th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Keili Carriere was the offensive standout of the game as she scored 12 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Harbor's points. Another player making a difference was Samantha Herrera, who scored 7 points.
Harbor pushed their record up to 4-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for El Primero, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Harbor will take on Marina at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Marina comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for El Primero, they will be playing at home against Latino College Preparatory Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Latino College Preparatory Academy and El Primero are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
