The Design Tech Dragons will head out to challenge the Summit Shasta Black Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Design Tech will be strutting in after a win while Summit Shasta will be coming in after a loss.
Design Tech came out on top against KIPP San Jose Collegiate on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive 16-run first inning. The Dragons put the hurt on the Wolfpack with a sharp 21-1 victory. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by ten runs or more this season.
Reilly Sutton and Logan Garrett were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Sutton tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Garrett tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sutton has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Sutton went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Garrett went 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. That's the most hits Garrett has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Aidan Tom was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Design Tech is 7-1 when Tom posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise. Eoin Halili was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Design Tech kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 24 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Summit Shasta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 7-4 to More.
Caden Frost and Milo Jung stepped up to the plate in a big way. Frost went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Jung went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Benedict Del Rosario, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Design Tech is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Summit Shasta, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Design Tech has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .454. However, it's not like Summit Shasta struggles in that department as they've averaged .456. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Design Tech suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Summit Shasta in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Dragons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
