For the first time this season, Banneker will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Monday. They are taking a road trip to take on the Langston Hughes Panthers at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Banneker has four straight wins, Langston Hughes has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, Banneker got the win against Douglass by a conclusive 10-2. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by six runs or more this season.

Jeremiah Brown made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out 13 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
In other batting news, Banneker let Denzell Broadnax and Anthony Lightfoot run wild. Broadnax scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3, while Lightfoot scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Banneker is undefeated when Broadnax posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayson Robinson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, while it was Langston Hughes who put the first points on the board on Thursday, it was New Manchester who put up more. Langston Hughes came up short against New Manchester, falling 12-2. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Panthers couldn't push the score so high this time.
Langston Hughes got a big performance out of Harry Gibson, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Darien Whitfield was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2.
Langston Hughes' defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Banneker, their record is now 4-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Banneker has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Langston Hughes struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Banneker might still be hurting after the 17-0 loss they got from Langston Hughes in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Banneker avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
