St. Paul is 0-4 against Paraclete since April of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The St. Paul Swordsmen will welcome the Paraclete Spirits at 3:15 p.m. St. Paul's pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so Paraclete's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
St. Paul is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Oxford Academy with a sharp 16-1 victory on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Swordsmen considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Troy Sibolboro was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other pitching news, Taylor Sundstrom looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024.
Back at the plate, St. Paul got a massive performance out of Elias Mota, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Fernado Moreno, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.
St. Paul always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Paraclete was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Bishop Amat.
Antonio Longobardi was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Armando Saucedo also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
St. Paul's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Paraclete, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
St. Paul couldn't quite finish off Paraclete in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 and fell 6-4. Can St. Paul avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
