The Mt. Pleasant Vikings kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They had to suffer through a rough 72-14 loss at the hands of Blackhawk. Mt. Pleasant was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-1.
Blackhawk's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alena Fusetti led the charge by scoring 19 points along with 4 steals. Aubree Hupp was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals.
Mt. Pleasant's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Blackhawk, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Mt. Pleasant will be playing in front of their home fans against Derry at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Blackhawk, they will head out on the road to face off against Greensburg Salem at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
