The Patriot Warriors will face off against the Mary Star of the Sea Stars at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Patriot and Ramona, and Ramona kept the tradition alive. The Warriors fell just short of the Rams by a score of 11-10 on Wednesday.
Noah Leon made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Paul Lopez-Ortiz, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Mary Star of the Sea can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. Everything went their way against St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy as they made off with a 13-5 win. Considering the Stars have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Mathias Reynolds made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run but no hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Mary Star of the Sea's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 10-11 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Ricardo Carreon was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Dileva, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base.
Patriot dropped their record down to 14-13 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Mary Star of the Sea, the victory got them back to even at 12-12.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Patriot has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Mary Star of the Sea struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
