Venture Academy has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Summerville Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Venture Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
Venture Academy suffered their closest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Elliot Christian by a score of 51-49. Venture Academy has not had much luck with Elliot Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Venture Academy might have lost, but man, Jz Lawrence was a machine: she dropped a triple-double on 21 points, ten rebounds, and 12 steals. Lawrence also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelyiana Neal, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Even though they lost, Venture Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elliot Christian only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Summerville, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 45-26 loss to Amador on Tuesday. Summerville has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Venture Academy's loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-9. As for Summerville, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.
