The St. Francis Sharks had already won 11 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.7 points), and they went ahead and made it 12 on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat King City 69-31 on the road. St. Francis has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 22 points or more this season.
St. Francis was led to victory by Aaliysah Gomez and Maya Calfee. Gomez dropped a triple-double on 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 steals, while Calfee scored 37 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Calfee has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 16 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Raich, who scored seven points along with five steals.
Despite the loss, King City had strong showings from Mikayla Mclane, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and two steals, and Malaya Carrillo, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
St. Francis pushed their record up to 17-2 with that victory, which was their 11th straight on the road. As for King City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
St. Francis will be playing at home against Gonzales at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Francis is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.6 points per game this season. As for King City, they will head out on the road to square off against North Monterey County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully King City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 42 on Wednesday.
