The Elkhorn North Wolves will head out to square off against the Elkhorn Antlers at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Elkhorn North had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Duchesne/Roncalli on Tuesday. The Wolves put the hurt on Duchesne/Roncalli with a sharp 9-3 win. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

Lauren Jardine made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in September. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Elkhorn North let Kelsey Daubert and Peyton Johnson run wild. Daubert went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI, while Johnson went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four hits gave Johnson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Delaney Phalen, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
Elkhorn North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Elkhorn). They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over Lincoln Northwest on Tuesday. The Antlers haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Lexi Randles looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ava Crollard, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Wragge, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Elkhorn North's record is now 14-7. As for Elkhorn, their record now sits at 18-12.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Elkhorn North hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352. However, it's not like Elkhorn struggles in that department as they've averaged .335. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Elkhorn North took their win against Elkhorn when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 15-7 score. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Antlers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
