Tulare Western and Tulare Union are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Tulare Western Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the Tulare Union The Tribe at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Tulare Western is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
On Wednesday, Tulare Western was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 48-47 to Lemoore.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Tulare Union ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-45 win over Dinuba. The victory was just what Tulare Union needed coming off of a 51-31 defeat in their prior matchup.
Jocelynn Melendez and Kailee Gilbert were among the main playmakers for Tulare Union as the former scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals and the latter dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. Mason Hatton was another key contributor, scoring two points along with five rebounds and five blocks.
Tulare Western dropped their record down to 13-12 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Tulare Union, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-17.
Tulare Western strolled past Tulare Union in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 46-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tulare Western since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
