Jayden Jackson made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Malachi Jones was a standout: he went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Trey Ray, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Douglas Byrd's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Seventy-First.
Malachi McDuffie led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three doubles, and two RBI. Those doubles marked the first that he has hit this season. Jeff Turner was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
South View has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Douglas Byrd, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. South View has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Douglas Byrd struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 12.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went South View's way against Douglas Byrd in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as South View made off with a 21-0 victory. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
