It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 60-28, which was the final score in Capistrano Valley's's tilt against El Rancho on Tuesday. Capistrano Valley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-9.
El Rancho's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emery Riker led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Riker hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariel Marquez, who scored 20 points along with three steals.
Capistrano Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for El Rancho, their win bumped their record up to 10-5.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Orange the next time they take the court. Capistrano Valley will head out to face Orange at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while El Rancho will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
