The Granite Hills Eagles suffered their closest loss yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of El Capitan by a score of 46-43. If Granite Hills hoped to take revenge for the 49-35 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Despite the loss, Granite Hills still got an impressive performance from Kerstena Tomika, who scored 19 points. That was a full 44.2% of Granite Hills' points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Delaney Fry, who scored ten points.
El Capitan got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Paige Worthem out in front who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and six blocks. Keira Heinricy was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Granite Hills' defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-7. As for El Capitan, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.
Granite Hills will square off against San Diego at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. As for El Capitan, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Grossmont at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
