The Monterey Trail Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 21 points or more this season. They blew past McClatchy 71-37 on the road. With Monterey Trail ahead 39-11 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Brandon Gibson Jr was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points. The match was his 14th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Rashawn Inglemon, who scored 15 points.
The victory (which was Monterey Trail's fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-1. As for McClatchy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
Monterey Trail is on the road again on Saturday and play against Mojave at 5:00 p.m. on January 6th. One thing working in Mojave's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven contests. As for McClatchy, they will head out on the road to face off against Grant at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Grant presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than McClatchy in California (Grant is ranked 184th, while McClatchy is ranked 781st).
