The Notre Dame Spartans couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by Panther Valley at home and fell 79-12. Notre Dame lost against Panther Valley in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 58-6 score last time.
Leading Panther Valley to victory were Maddison Maynard and Morgan Orsulak. Maynard scored 13 points along with 7 steals and 6 assists, while Orsulak scored 19 points along with 5 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Breslin, who scored 10 points along with 5 steals.
Notre Dame's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Panther Valley, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Notre Dame will be playing in front of their home fans against Salisbury Township at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Panther Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Jim Thorpe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
