The Rancho Mirage Rattlers will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Brawley Wildcats at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday. Rancho Mirage is hoping to put an end to a 12-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Thursday, Rancho Mirage had to suffer through a rough 60-13 loss at the hands of Xavier Prep. While losing is never fun, Rancho Mirage can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1318th, while Xavier Prep is ranked 192nd).
Meanwhile, Brawley entered their tilt with Desert Christian Academy with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Brawley walked away with a 57-46 win over Desert Christian Academy on Wednesday. Brawley's win was all the more impressive since Desert Christian Academy was averaging only 29.54 points allowed on the season.
Breanna Montano and Maliyah Jackson Montoya were among the main playmakers for Brawley as the former scored 19 points and the latter scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabela Trujillo Sepulveda, who scored nine points.
Rancho Mirage's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Brawley, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.
Rancho Mirage was taken down by Brawley 49-15 in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Rancho Mirage, Karyssa Castillo (who scored 16 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
