High school basketball is heating up and the last week of games saw no shortage of insane statistical performances. We are highlighting some of the top boys and girls performances in this edition of Stat Freaks.
At
Hansberry (Chicago, Ill.), sophomore brothers
Al Brooks Jr. and
Ikee Brooks have done nothing but dazzle all season, each recording a double-double in every game. Al averages 31.2 points, 19.3 rebounds and 9.1 blocks per game while Ikee has marks of 12.8 assists and 5.3 steals per contest to go with 17.6 points.
On Jan. 3 against Thornwood (South Holland, Ill.) — the alma mater of 2001 prep-to-pro Eddy Curry — the Brooks brothers truly hit their stride. Ikee scored 21 points, dished out 14 assists, grabbed 12 rebounds and recorded five steals. Al did a lot of his work near the basket in the paint, rejecting 16 shots, skying for a career-high 32 rebounds and scoring 21 points.
Junior
Hope Sielaff of
Valley Lutheran (Phoenix, Ariz.) is the girls Stat Freak after dominating the paint in the Flames 47-19 over Superior (Ariz.) on Jan. 6. The 6-foot-1 center scored 16 points and pulled down an insane 35 rebounds, including 11 of the offensive variety. Sielaff was also a beast defensively, tallying three steals and blocking nine shots.
