The North Platte Bulldogs lost against the Kearney Bearcats back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. North Platte fell 56-44 to Kearney. North Platte has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why North Platte lost, one person who can't be blamed is Clancy Brown. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. Brown scored a full 52.3% of North Platte's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Uehling, who scored three points.
It was another big night for Kelsey Hatcher, who scored 24 points for Kearney. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Hatcher has scored at least 25% of Kearney's points. Kennidy Garner was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
North Platte now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Kearney, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
North Platte will be playing in front of their home fans against Pius X at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Pius X focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Friday. Kearney is on the road again on Thursday and play against Grand Island at 6:00 p.m. on January 4th. Grand Island is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
