The Charleroi Cougars are still winless after their matchup against the Jefferson-Morgan Rockets on Monday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. Charleroi fell just short of Jefferson-Morgan by a score of 46-43. Charleroi lost against Jefferson-Morgan in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 58-51 score last time.
Jefferson-Morgan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Huston Guesman led the charge by scoring 14 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Guesman has scored at least 25% of Jefferson-Morgan's points. The team also got some help courtesy of John Woodward, who scored 16 points.
Charleroi bumped their record down to 0-4 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Jefferson-Morgan, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Charleroi will be playing at home against California at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Jefferson-Morgan won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bethlehem Center at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th. Hopefully Bethlehem Center focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 last Tuesday.
