The Carter Lions lost a heartbreaker to the Grand Terrace Titans when they met back in December of 2021, and they left with a heavy heart again on Tuesday. Carter fell to Grand Terrace 41-36. Carter has not had much luck with Grand Terrace recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Grand Terrace's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayleen Barajas led the charge by scoring 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Barajas is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Philosphy Heard, who scored eight points along with eight steals and seven rebounds.
Carter has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season. As for Grand Terrace, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 18-7.
Carter will head out on the road to square off against Notre Dame at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Grand Terrace, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Rim of the World at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Rim of the World has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 4.
