The Fulton Hornets will face off against the Mexico Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, Fulton needed a bit of extra time to put away Boonville. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pirates, sneaking past 7-6. The victory continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won seven in a row.
Kenzi Washington made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Washington was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs.
In other batting news, Rose Blattner and Aubrey Mosley did most of the damage at the plate: Blattner went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Mosley went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Blattner has hit this season. Karai Kamp was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.
Fulton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in September.
Meanwhile, Mexico made easy work of Hannibal on Wednesday and carried off a 13-3 win. Considering the Bulldogs have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Mexico got a massive performance out of Payton Shaw, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Shaw a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Scottie Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
