The El Camino Wildcats were the 56-37 winner over the Sage Creek Bobcats when they last played one another back in January of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. El Camino fell 50-40 to Sage Creek on Tuesday. El Camino's defeat continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Despite the loss, El Camino still got an impressive performance from Alana Hoskins, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 steals. The matchup was Hoskins' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aliyah Carter, who scored 14 points along with 5 rebounds.
Sage Creek got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Harmony Lawler out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds. Lawler has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Claire Novak, who scored 12 points.
El Camino's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Sage Creek, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
El Camino will be playing in front of their home fans against La Jolla at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. La Jolla presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than El Camino in California (La Jolla is ranked 365th, while El Camino is ranked 1054th). As for Sage Creek, they will head out on the road to face off against Mt. Carmel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Carmel is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
