The San Jacinto Tigers came tearing into Monday's match with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 52.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They snuck past Heritage with a 63-59 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead San Jacinto to victory, but perhaps none more so than Luv'lee Sadler, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. Sadler continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Miyah Stevenson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
When it comes to explaining why Heritage lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sierra Maxwell. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 44.1% of Heritage's points, marking the 20th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reg'inae Hardin, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
San Jacinto is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. As for Heritage, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-11.
San Jacinto won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Bison at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th. Liberty has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Heritage, they will head out on the road to take on the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rancho Verde will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 618th, while the Patriots are ranked 266th).
