The Westlake Warriors will take on the Palisades Dolphins in a tournament on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Westlake 3.4, Palisades 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
If Westlake beats Palisades with five runs on Saturday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Westlake had just enough and edged out Notre Dame (SO) 5-4. The win was nothing new for the Warriors as they're now sitting on three straight.

Connor Jacobson tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Westlake is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 2-3 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Blake Miller, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Noah Stead, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Palisades not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since May 3, 2024. They blew past Los Angeles CES 7-1. The victory continues a trend for the Dolphins in their matchups with the Unicorns: they've now won three in a row.
Ian Sullivan looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Logan Bailey was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Andreas Konnari, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.
Westlake pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing ten strikeouts in those games compared to only 3.6 in the others. As for Palisades, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Westlake was able to grind out a solid win over Palisades in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, winning 4-0. Does Westlake have another victory up their sleeve, or will Palisades turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
