The Diboll Lumberjacks will face off against the Fairfield Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Diboll: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Fairfield has snatched up seven consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
Diboll made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Westwood, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Lumberjacks fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 38-35 on Friday.
Although Diboll took the loss, they still got scores from Eli Terrell, Rylie Arambula, Erin Robbins, Kevi Davis-Dill, and Tyrece McMillan.
Even if they lost, Diboll's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Terrell, Joseph Parish, and Davis-Dill, who each picked up one sack apiece. Diboll received some extra help from Robbins, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, Fairfield never let their opponents score on Friday. They really took it to Huntington for the full four quarters, racking up a 52-0 victory. Fans of the Eagles have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.
Diboll better keep an eye on Kohl Collins. He was instrumental in Fairfield's win, throwing for 256 yards and five touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes, and also rushing for 39 yards. Collins is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Khamrion Ingram was another key player, picking up 48 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Fairfield, adding 16 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Finn Smith, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Fairfield's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Diboll, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Diboll took their victory against Fairfield in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 34-14 score. Do the Lumberjacks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
