Baseball Recap: Los Angeles CES Takes a Loss

If Los Angeles CES was feeling good fresh off their 12-5 takedown of Hamilton last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Unicorns took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Gate Rams on Wednesday.

Luke Polizzi was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. He has become a key player for Los Angeles CES: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 7-10 otherwise. Cai Bloom-Furedi was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double.

Los Angeles CES' defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for South Gate, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-16.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Los Angeles CES will face off against University at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.58 runs per game on average), something the Unicorns will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for South Gate, they will challenge Huntington Park at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.61 runs per game on average), something the Rams will no doubt try to take advantage of.
