The Meyersdale Red Raiders suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Monday. They were outmatched by Windber at home and fell 51-22. While losing is never fun, Meyersdale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 510th, while Windber is ranked 221st).
Meyersdale's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Laurel Daniels, who scored seven points along with two blocks. Another player making a difference was Jessica Daughton, who scored six points.
Meyersdale has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Windber, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-5.
Meyersdale will play host again and welcome North Star, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Windber, they will head out on the road to square off against Southern Fulton at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Southern Fulton is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.
