Basketball Recap: RJ Pickering Jr's Big Game Can't Quite Lead South Pointe over James F. Byrnes

South Pointe lost against James F. Byrnes back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The South Pointe Stallions took a 72-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the James F. Byrnes Rebels. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (60), the Stallions still had to take the loss.

South Pointe lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being RJ Pickering Jr, who posted 11 points. Pickering Jr is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Jackson Wilson was another key player, going 5 for 12 on his way to 15 points.

James F. Byrnes found their leader in sophomore Colt Fowler, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten assists. Evan Enos was another key player, going 6 of 14 on his way to 15 points and eight rebounds.

South Pointe's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for James F. Byrnes, the win keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.

South Pointe wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 71-51 victory against C.A. Johnson on the 29th. As for James F. Byrnes, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 76-55 win against Brookland-Cayce on the 29th.
