Baseball Recap: Midtown Gets the Win

While Midtown's victory against Mays wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Midtown Knights had just enough and edged out the Mays Raiders 5-3. The win continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won seven in a row.

Charlie Frederick made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases.

In other pitching news, Henry Carter looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Taylor Goldstein, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Noah Morrison was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-1.

Midtown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .545 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Midtown's record now sits at 8-2. As for Mays, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

Midtown has already played their next game, a 13-4 victory against Forest Park on the 13th. As for Mays, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, an 11-5 defeat against M.L. King on the 13th.
