It was a good run, but the Providence Pioneers unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 49-38 to Rio Hondo Prep. Providence was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Rio Hondo Prep apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played on January 5th.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rio Hondo Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sydney Diaz, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Diaz has scored all season. Avery Pollock was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with 11 rebounds.
Providence's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-5. As for Rio Hondo Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Providence will take on SEED: LA at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. SEED: LA is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Rio Hondo Prep, they will play host again and welcome Westridge, where tip off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Westridge is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
