The Los Altos Eagles will take on the Willow Glen Rams at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
Leigh hit Los Altos with a five-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Longhorns.
Los Altos got a good showing from Mitesh Jain, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Jain a new career-low in walks (zero).
At the plate, Los Altos saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sean Hamby, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Willow Glen). They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over Live Oak on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Acorns: they've now won four in a row.
Ben Mudgett was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mudgett was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Tyler Veroneau was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those stolen bases marked the first that he has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Amann, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Willow Glen now has a winning record of 2-1-1. As for Los Altos, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
Los Altos couldn't quite finish off Willow Glen in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 and fell 10-8. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
