Rosewood and Midway are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Rosewood is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2 runs per game this season.
Rosewood was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against North Duplin on Wednesday. The Eagles never let the Rebels get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Braxson Waters made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Rosewood got a massive performance out of Jack Adams, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Adams is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kaeden Hinson, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Rosewood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Midway was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They came up short against Ayden - Grifton, falling 7-1. The matchup marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Midway saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Tew, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Rosewood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Midway, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-7 record.
Both Rosewood and Midway just can't seem to miss. The Eagles have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Midway struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rosewood might still be hurting after the 11-3 defeat they got from Midway when the teams last played back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
