Riley Nelson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Santa Fe Christian is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise. Nelson was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kyle Plasman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Moran, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Santa Fe Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Paloma Valley only posted a batting average of .174.
Meanwhile, Del Norte was able to grind out a solid win over San Ysidro on Monday, taking the game 12-8. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Nighthawks.
Santa Fe Christian's record now sits at 7-4. As for Del Norte, their record is now 6-4.
Santa Fe Christian couldn't quite get it done against Del Norte when the teams last played back in May of 2023 as they fell 5-1. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
