The Tri-City Christian Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Rock Academy Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Tri-City Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Friday.
Last Friday, Tri-City Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Orange Glen, taking the game 35-23. The win was just what Tri-City Christian needed coming off of a 62-32 loss in their prior game.
Tri-City Christian relied on the efforts of Katie Busch, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds, and Ava Johnson, who scored 14 points along with five steals. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played.
Meanwhile, Rock Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 65-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Santa Fe Christian. Rock Academy has not had much luck with Santa Fe Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite their loss, Rock Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Adeline Hooper, who scored 17 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Rose Riley, who scored 14 points.
Tri-City Christian's victory bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Rock Academy, they bumped their record down to 6-10 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Tri-City Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 33.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Rock Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 17.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Tri-City Christian strolled past Rock Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 47-32. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Rock Academy's Thereza Horugavye, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Tri-City Christian still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
