The Hughson Huskies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 68-43 defeat at the hands of Manteca. While losing is never fun, Hughson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 393rd, while Manteca is ranked 124th).
Despite the loss, Hughson still got an impressive performance from Kareena Kang, who scored 13 points. Kang scored a full 30.2% of Hughson's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Gracie Quillen, who scored six points.
Brea Vieira was the offensive standout of the match as she went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 5 assists. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Izabella Sanchez was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Hughson now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Manteca, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.
