West Central - South recap Oct. 3, 2012
Matt Ahrndt of Benson ran for the longest rushing play in West Central - South this season against Sauk Centre last week. Ahrndt's team bested the Mainstreeters as he sprinted for 54 yards on the play and finished with 234 in all.
Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City, 27-20. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Tigers.
Scott Gonnermon's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ahrndt threw for 14 and one touchdown and Landon Mitteness had 10 yards receiving. Brody Gimberlin helped Benson's passing attack out by catching one ball for four yards.
Dan Lee made the biggest impact on defense this week as Benson topped Sauk Centre. The senior grabbed one sack.
Ahrndt has thrown for 444 yards and four touchdowns this season, while Mitteness has eight catches for 151 yards. Ahrndt also leads the league in rushing with 605 yards.
A big matchup in West Central - South this week will be when the Falcons take on Benson. Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City is in fifth place, while Benson is in fourth place.
